Growing our talents
What does it meant to grow your talents?
If you would have asked me a few years ago I wouldnt even know what to say to that. For me I never have just one specific talent I could master. I struggled with the "What am I supposed to do with my life? Who am I? what are my talents?"
My husband is an AMAZING Mechanic. I couldn't do what he does even if I tried. I do not carry the physical strength to even to anything mechanically. I have helped tighten bolts to get his turbo on his car and can change a tire but that's about it ha ha. oh and lap valves.
well I was finally able to put my dreams to the test. When we had our condo back in 2009 I wanted to put a little garden out on the patio but the one tomato plant I had died ha ha ha I felt like well that plan was smashed I cant even keep one plant alive let alone a whole garden.
So I waited a year and in 2010 I stared my first garden and I had not a clue what to do. I didn't know where to plant anything or that there was a actual strategy to planting. How was I going to know that most plants have to be switched around each year to add different nourishment to the ground. I didn't know I couldn't plant the same thing in the same spot each year. I was so new and very very uneducated about gardening. That's how talents grow though. We aren't just BORN with a talent, We master it over time.
Oh MY gosh you guys.... I had so much to learn. My thought was "Never plant more than you can eat." Holy lettuce ha ha .. Also NEVER plant tomatoes that close. I had so much to learn. Everything I learned that year I made sure I put towards the next year planting. Saved the seeds, googled how to plant a garden. What plants grow best where and how to pair plants together, what flowers keep bugs away, ect. Oh my I could list so many thing about my experience with gardening.
When I did my research I was learning how to master my talent. Little did I even know that It was a talent at the time, I just wanted to play in the dirt and grow food. I didnt think of my plants anymore than they are just a plant. Now I just dont look at them the same way.
Have you ever watched Avatar and when they kill the wildlife they tell them how thankful they are for them?! I now do that for my plants. Sounds like Im crazy but you would be surprised how much better they grow when you just let them know you are thankful for them. my favorite part about planting is the starting of the seeds. Waiting patiently for them to germinate and the excitement of seeing to first leaves start to make their way out of the dirt is the most amazing feeling.
Oh the joy of seeing that little seed come to life.
Watching my plants grow and be so beautiful to me is like seeing your child for the first time. Its such an amazing feeling to me. Not many people can even relate to that feeling but to be its the happiest feeling. Its so spiritual to me. There again little did I know I was growing my talent. I started to have this passion for planting.
As they got bigger and bigger I would capture pictures of their growth and even the life that they brought to my garden.
With all the wild Purslane weeds it brought in the wild bunnies.. This little guy we found in my garden nibbling on the weeds. cutest little bugger I have ever seen. We had seen deer, Bunnies, and an occasional cat here and there. Boy did I enjoy it!
As the years went by I told you how much I learned since starting my journey with my garden and I will show you year by year how much my garden changed through the years and through growing my talents...
when I started it was in 2010 which was the picture at the top. those plants were given to me by my husbands mom and I just stuck them in the ground with no knowledge.
This was all in 2011 It got much better this year!!
as I got the hang of it I loved being out in the garden more. barefoot and enjoying my hard work. Having a garden especially in the country was never a easy task. knowing when to water and also the weeds grow rampent out there.
My favorite flowers!
This was in 2012, The year of the sunflowers also a big lesson and will never plant those again ha ha . they made a huge mess for two years after. my plan was to dry them and eat them but I got very sick that year and was later DX with MS. so that squashed those plans.
Canned my own Tomatoes from my own garden and I was to tickled because they tasted amazing.
This was in 2014 and boy did I have a phenomenal amount of morning glory ha ha!!
I like taking some time to notice all the small things in life.
This was current in 2017
now back to 2015 I didn't have a garden because of our housing I had to put it off for a while which was really really hard but then it forced me to work on a new talent/ hobby.
WOOD CRAFTS.... its so addicting.
Ok seriously dont laugh ha ha these were my first attempts at making wood crafts. I was just going off a whim and hoping to sell them which I did sadly. they probably ended up in the trash or even at the DI.
but its honestly all about trying something new. If you can start something and be amazing your first shot I honestly applaud you because its not that way for all of us at all.
Little did I know that this crafting I wanted to test out would start a small business. I started taking on custom orders and filling homes with my creations. Some made me so happy I didnt want to give up ha ha but I needed the money to do a new craft. We all start at the bottom and my point is when you start DO NOT GIVE UP!!! all talents take hard work, time , and dedication. keep going and never stop dreaming. just try something new. if you fail. fail again till you get it right.
I plan doing these again but for now I need to focus on being home with my kids and helping them grow and master their talents to.
I loved doing this for my side hobby and the way it made me feel was even better. I was so happy and so excited for the next project.
After two years of this I started venturing off and finding another thing to try... YOGA!!
It took me two years of practice to get these moves down without falling on my face. I can only hold them a few good seconds but getting the structure of the pose down is making ma proud.
If we keep striving to learn and grow we will always find new ways to master out talents.

These are after a few months of on and off yoga. I started getting better once I had more time and effort into working on myself. thats one of the hardest things to do, Is work on yourself you know. I'm still working on it. I started collecting crystals, saging, meditating (still haven't got that down).
Oh AND I became a CNA!! just had to throw that in the mix!!
I do grounding to keep my body working good!
